Big Trees Trail lulls you with a gentle winding path through rolling hills and redwood groves. Until you find yourself in a family of giants over looking the entire North Bay.

This was the perfect summer morning hike with my sisters.. I don’t think we stopped talking for the full 6 miles.

It’s okay. It’s okay that the summer feels like it’s flying by, the To Do list is a mile long, and the calendar is filled with plans and obligations.

We have some exciting adventures coming up to share with you. But sometimes, the rhythm of the week swallows us up and standing on top of a mountain or next to the ocean feels so far away. That feeling…that person that breathes in and out while she follows the trail feels like a distant memory or future aspiration. There’s so much to do!

But it’s not far. It’s the SAME person. Life is all about the ebbs and flows; the tide; the shifting balance…

In wanting to share with you today that we are still here- just weighed down by all the things….came across these photos from #hill88 back in April. ‘I know. I still love you’ resonates. But so does the beauty of human made building and art against the backdrop of creation. It so beautifully epitomizes ever changing balance. Nothing is static. It is always shifting - changing shape.

We have something big coming up that we are making sure our legs are ready for…but today was an amazing afternoon of reaching the summit of Mount Tamalpais together.

The east peak of Mt. Tam is about 2,550+ft. We did 1500 - starting part of the way up. It was sweaty, sunny, lovely, and fantastic. For both, it was our first time getting to the peak of Tam - and it won’t be the last. Someday, we will do the entire 2,500 ft!

Thankful for the friends that push us. That point out poison oak. That go first on the lookout for rattle snakes. The ones that bring a can of beer for the summit. The ones that you share life with.

Yesterday on the beach, I noticed that the Tommy Bahama slogan is “Life is just one long weekend” …isn’t that the truth! This is our last full day at the beach, and by 7am I had already done yoga on the beach. Next up, exploring this amazingly awesome slot canyon trail! And of course beach time later! Let no time in this amazing place be wasted!

Sometimes the path is sandy and flat…sometimes you’re meant to breathe it in, set boundaries, find moments to enjoy - and feel alive.

Our little family ran away for a week to the beaches of San Diego. Building in extra time this summer..it’s not a full vacation. Working for a few days and beaching, boogie boarding, and surfing for the others. Carving my day in pieces so I can spend time with my freckle faces, sun kissed littles who giggle louder than the ocean roars. I don’t even feel bad - not about the extra hustle, the extra funds, the June gloom - none of it. No apologies. This is breathing. This is living. And until I can find a way for someone to pay me to just be outside with my family- I’ll keep running around finding ways to make it all work. Because life is far too short to sit on my couch week after week.

Life is meant to be lived and I want that - now and always. And I want to do that surrounded by my crew.
